The Filipino American actor who immortalized himself through his role as Keno, a martial artist (and part time pizza delivery boy) in TMNT’s Secret of the Ooze, has been admitted to the hospital for kidney failure.

Ernie Reyes, who stunt doubled for Donatello in the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle’s film has also starred in Surf Ninja’s a film that he helped produced, together with comedian Leslie Nielsen and Rob Schneider.

Ernie, a San Jose, California native, booted his acting career in the 1985 film, The Last Dragon at the age of 13. Surf Ninja was a flop.

In 2001, Ernie found himself in the spotlight again together with Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, in Rush Hour 2. His career picked up again in 2003’s Rundown, featuring hand to hand combat between Ernie and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Due to his illness, Ernie’s family launched GoFundMe campaign to get help for his medical needs.
