Fanboys and fangirls are all abuzz with the latest trailer from Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Whether it revealed too much or too little gave off that much hype to have its youtube trailer on Warner Bros. Picture channel hit close to 12 million in just four days.

While the movie will be hitting theaters on March 2016, its trailers have been revealing hints on and about our favorite DC characters. What’s going on with Superman…has he won the trust of the populace? What’s with the vandalized Robin costume in the Batcave? While so many spoilers tried to fill in the blanks about Supes and Bats, we’re all wondering why we haven’t had much of Wonder Woman.

Sure, there were press and photo releases of Gal Gadot. But her character was properly and dramatically revealed in full garb in Trailer 2! So, without further ado, let’s figure out who and what is Wonder Woman role in the movie. Read on.

1. New 52 Wonder Woman

Yes, Wonder Woman will have a secret identity reminiscent to that of Lynda Carter’s role in the TV series. No, her origin that she was made from clay and blessed by the Greek gods, has been dropped in lieu of her New 52 origin that she’s a demigod, the daughter of Zeus and the queen of the amazons, Hyppolita.

2. Wonder Powers

We see the shield, we see the bracelets, we see the golden lasso… but we only saw the shield and the bracelets in action. Here’s what Gal Gadot shared with an Israeli interviewer: “[Wonder Woman] has unbelievable endurance. She is exceptionally strong. She can jump really high and practically fly. She knows tons of martial arts styles. She is a strong and serious woman.”

Am sure, many fanboys and fangirls will protest that Wonder Woman is not flying! That “practically fly” phrase is a throwback to WW’s power pre-crisis in the DC universe. Now there’s a use for an invisible plane. Hmmmm.

3. Wonder Gal

Gal Gadot spent two years as a conscript in the Israeli Defence Force (a must for young Israelis). Her experience allowed her to do her own stunts in the Fast and Furious movies and handle weapons realistically. Gal’s feminine charm and masculine training suit her perfectly for the role, aside from being chosen as Miss Israel in 2004. Despite all that, Gal still had to go training in kickboxing, kung fu, sword fighting, and jiu jitsu for the role.

4. Controversial Casting

Not all approved of Gal as Wonder Woman. Ask every fanboy and fangirl, they have their own choices for the role. Early rumors had Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé Knowles, Bullock, Rachel Bilson, Nadia Bjorlin, Megan Fox, Eliza Dushku and Catherine Zeta-Jones, vying for the role.

Mostly panned the slender figure of Gal and that her physique wasn’t just Amazonian. Here’s what Gal said in a video for “”I represent the Wonder Women of the New World. Historically accurate Amazonian women actually had only one breast. So, if I’d really go ‘by the book’, it’d be problematic.”

5. Wonder Woman Movie

Set for release in 2017, Wonder Woman the movie will have Chris Pine playing Steve Trevor. Recently, Warner Bros has released its list of official cast that features Robin Wright (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” Netflix’s “House of Cards”), Danny Huston (“Clash of the Titans,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”), David Thewlis (the “Harry Potter” films, “The Theory of Everything”), Ewen Bremner (“Exodus: Gods and Kings,” “Snowpiercer”), Saïd Taghmaoui (“American Hustle”), Elena Anaya (“The Skin I Live In”) and Lucy Davis (“Shaun of the Dead”). Rumors still persist that Nicole Kidman is joining the cast as a Goddess (which she sure looks like) or perhaps Wonder Woman’s mother, Hyppolita.
