A Runway Grass Cutter accidentally found a drone near runway 06-24 of Ninoy Aquino International Airport 1 and immediately reported it to safety inspectors of the Manila International Airport Authority.
Homer Asunsion, MIAA safety inspector, said that his team was was alerted by the runway grass cutter of MIAA when he saw the drone near the runway.
Upon inspection, the drone bore no identification marks. The drone is now in the custody of the MIAA Safety Department.
MIAA is now working with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) in identifying the owner.
According to authorities the drone owner violated the no drone policy within the airport complex.
The owner aside from having a criminal liability, could also be fined with P300,000 to P500,000.
Luckily, the drone did not hit any aircraft nor create any obstruction near the runway.
